So, I've had Maybelline gel eyeliner for over three months. Purchased mine outside Nigeria and been meaning to write a review, so here it is.
My spare Maybelline gel liner (What an unopened pack looks like)
Side View
Back View
It comes in a black pack as seen in the pictures above, a small brush (applicator) is included in it. This brush helps- especially if you don't have an eyeliner brush for this purpose. For best results, I make the brush a little damp (using facial wipes) before each use. Also I always wipe the brush to get rid of products after use.
Applicator/ Brush
Maybelline gel liner was used in achieving this look.
PROs: (a) It's very easy to use and you can achieve any intensity you want with it. (b) The 24hr written on the pack is valid, (I have never worn my makeup round the clock tho) but it stays till evening when am ready to take it off. (c) As opposed to some other products, it doesn't crease when worn without an eyeshadow or primer as a base- simply put, you can apply it alone if you are not the 'makeup type'.
NB: I have a very oily lid that makes eye shadows crease if worn without primer.
CONs: The brush (applicator) makes the product finish more quickly, *lol. What I mean is, it sometimes absorbs more product than needed (which ends up in my wipes when I clean the brush). You might be able to control this, or use another applicator ( a thinner brush).
What the gel liner looks like (Mine has holes from brush strokes)
What under the (pot-like) jar looks like
Pricing: I bought it at an equivalent of 1200 to 1500 (depending on conversion rate), which I believe is worth.
As at the time of putting this post together, this gel liner is not (YET) available at the Maybelline Nigeria. Hopefully it should be soon. It's a really good gel liner and I would totally buy again.
My little Maybelline collection.
More reviews coming soon. Thanks for stopping by. xx.
Hi beautiful ladies out there, thought you might find this helpful.
My day to day makeup routine *thinking.. Before I start talking about that, lets start with my skin type.
I have an Oily Skin. What this means is that my face gets shinny/oily easily and is more prone to breakouts unlike a normal or dry skin. Because my skin/ face is my selling point, I always try to keep the acne/ breakout has been under control
An oily skin type, made me increase my 'facial hygiene', conduct some more research and consult professionals in this aspect.
So, the routine which I use in fighting it is
(a) Cleansing with a facial cleanser and washing with a face wash (Every Morning)
(b)The 3 step makeup removal process (Every Evening) which includes,
Cleaning my makeup/ entire face using facial or baby wipes, cleansing with a cleanser and finally washing my face using a facial wash.
Note that Brand Names are not the primary focus here just ensure your facial cleanser or facial wash contains sylicyclic acid or any other acne treatment as its main ingredient - if you have an oily skin.
Facial Wash without sylicyclic acid or any other acne combating agent tends to spread the pimples instead of treating it. (as that was the experience I had with such product- the pimples multiplied)
No makeup Selfie
What routine do you use in taking off your makeup or what do you use in fighting pimples? Please share. Tnx for stopping by, xx
Hi Lovely People, my blog is meant to be undergoing 'reconstruction' (which is the reason why I haven't posted in a while), but am so excited and just couldn't help but post this *winks
The Maybelline Master Class/ Makeup Fair took place today, and I put this post together for you - just in case you missed it.
As expected, the turn out was massive with Makeup Lovers, Makeup Artists, Celebrity Makeup Artists etc in attendance.
Before I continue, let me point out things I learnt from the Highlighting and Contouring Master Class.
After applying your nose highlight and contor, ensure you blend the visible lines away using your finger tips.
Apply foundation following the direction of growth of the hair/ facial hair
Blend, Blend , Blend- no one wants to see/notice the line of demarcation in a highlight/contouring technique.
H n C is a powerful weapon for a professional Makeup Artist
Maybelline's COCOA is great for contoring technique..
Pin-up inspired look which I rocked for the event.
Clip of Maybelline products used during the training
Mrs Bimpe Onakoya (CEO POPS Concept/ Maybelline NG) doing her thing.
Faces of Nigerian Makeup Artists/ Makeup Lovers willing and ready to learn
A massive turn out it was.. glad I was there.
Tara Fela-Durotoye (Orekelewa) and Makeup Artists.
Tara n I (I love her simplicity)
Dada Yemisi of Nsure Beauty Studio (a mentor n pacesetter) n I.
In conclusion, it was an opportunity to learn, mingle and network. Am glad I didn't miss it. xx
Pretty little liars is a TV series that 'got me', mostly because its thrilling and partly because the stars are always beautifully made up.
With season 4 concluded, I decided to write my make up view of Aria (Lucy Hale) , Spencer(Troian Bellisario), Emily (Shay Mitchell) and Hannah (Ashley Benson) - our pretty little liars sweet hearts.
Based on the episodes, my nominees for the most perfect eyebrows goes to Emily and Aria
Nominees for Natural Makeup looks goes to Emily and Spencer
Hannah is always unique and sometimes rocks a smoky eye (played down) and at other times, black eyeliner that accentuates her blue eyes and makes her look beautiful.
My makeup 'barbie' goes to Aria- her makeup always gets me thinking 'what and what was applied?' lol. Each time I watch, my attention is always drawn to Aria's perfect brows,
What I totally agree upon is this, either natural or smokey, their makeup aplication ends up looking flawless thanks to Cindy Miguens (pretty little liars' official Makeup Artist)
P.S: Meanwhile, pictures credit goes to (beauty high, wet paint and other online sources)
With and without makeup pics below.
Lucy Hale (Aria)
Troian Bellisario (Spencer)
Shay Mitchell (Emily)
Ashley Benson (Hannah)
Comments are welcome. xx
A couple of
weeks back, I purchased Taries’ 24 piece brush set for a student of mine..
I have been using it in training
her- to enable her get acquainted with the brushes.
I therefore decided write a
review on it (based on my experience with the brushes)
The brushes
are synthetic and comes in an attractive orange colour.
Each brush
has the name of its function (what it does) printed on it- which I think is a
very helpful feature especially for
freshly trained Makeup Artists as this helps you know the purpose of each brush
without needing extra help.
The pouch like brush holder that comes with the brush set is a plus, as it saves you the extra cost
of purchasing a pouch for your brushes.
Being a 24
piece brush set (i.e variety of brushes), it has lots of brushes which you
might not find if you are purchasing a 12 piece brush set. For instance,
The flat eyeliner brush (very useful when
applying gel eye liner or pencil eye liner).
Two different lip brushes (one is
really great for lining the lips i.e without a lip pencil).
The
concealer brush: which worked well for me when used in applying an under eye
concealer. I loved the foundation brushes because I ended
up having a smooth finish while working with them.
The downside
I experienced was with the powder brush- it didn't give me the ‘fullness’ I am
used to (maybe it because it is a new brush and is still product free).
Facts about synthetic brushes. I did a little research and found that
synthetic brushes are:
Less likely to get damaged by makeup and the products we
use in cleaning them. They are
also easier to keep clean since they don’t absorb makeup pigment.
Better suited for people that are sensitive to animal hair or hair which
other types of brushes are made from.
It is a better option for you if you are a vegetarian.
Synthetic
brushes are better for creating a soft/ natural look with makeup.
From my experience, I would keep recommending this brush set to prospective Makeup Artists.
Have you tried this brush set? please share your experience in the comment section below or what you think about synthetic brushes. xx.
How do you tie your headgear, otherwise known as 'gele'? Is there a particular style you are used to or do you spend half an hour trying to figure out how to tie your gele?
Below are pictures to guide you on tying your headgear and I hope you find it useful.
(Don't forget to pack your hair neatly before you begin), Enjoy.
Tip: Before you tie the ends together, fold (those ends) in a fan like design.
I guess this was useful to someone, comments are welcome. xox
Hi beauties, am so excited to bring to you a blog where I can totally share my ideas, findings, reviews on Makeup/ Beauty and also post pictures of my works *big smile*
My first post here is that of this look I created. I started out with the intention of achieving a simple gold (eye) lid, but my creative side took over- which led to winging the eye a little using a black eye shadow..
Pictures were taken by me, so I apologize for the background lol.
Products used in achieving this look are listed below:
